ALTA fraud prevention commitee – Global day of action

The Global Day of Action (DoA) against credit card fraud in the airline industry was held June 5 – 8, 2017, with joint cooperation between several agencies around the world including ALTA.

Resulting conclusions in Latin America and the Caribbean
"¢ 35 international airports from Mexico, Brazil, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Panama, Bolivia, and Colombia were represented through AMERIPOL and CLACIP
"¢ The deployment of judicial police officers at international airports allowed the generation of 54 alerts that linked 76 people, of which 39 were involved. The countries affected by the origin of the flights were Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, Peru, and Dominican Republic, and the main international destinations were France, Canada, Colombia, United States, Netherlands, Cuba, Mexico, and Spain

These interventions and regional coverage served as a reference point to determine new regional points of air ticket fraud. Six ALTA airline members actively participated in the initiative reporting alerts.
