Biometric technology program gaining momentum

This year will see significant steps taken in implementing One ID technology, IATA has said.

IATA"™s latest Global Passenger Survey revealed that 64% of passengers would like to use a single biometric travel token for all travel transactions.

"One ID will make this a reality," says Nick Careen, Senior Vice President, Airport, Passenger, Cargo and Security, IATA.

Using biometric recognition technology, One ID will facilitate end-to-end identity management, from booking, through departure and arrival, to the return journey.

The concept will be refined, guidance materials produced, and a template trust framework developed

Passenger data will be collected, assessed and identity confirmed as early as possible in the booking process.

A key focus in 2018 will be to establish a framework that gains the trust of the multitude of stakeholders involved in the travel process…
