Delta Air Lines Launches Tampa Bay to Amsterdam Service

Yesterday, Delta Air Lines and Tampa International Airport gathered to announce a new service between Tampa and Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport, giving Tampa its fifth European destination.

The new service will kick off on May 25, 2019 and will fly every day in the summer and four to five times a week during the rest of the year. It will fly on Delta Boeing 767 jets, which offers Delta One suites and Delta Premium Select.

Amsterdam is one of the biggest European hubs for Delta, so Tampa’s travelers will have opportunities to travel to the rest of Europe, India, and Asia with connections by Delta and Delta partners like KLM and Air France.

The service is good news for business travelers, as Tampa has traditionally had a large business travel community — Visit Tampa CEO Santiago Corrado told the Tampa Bay Times at the event announcing the route that there are 134,000 SkyMiles members in Tampa and 16,000 in the airline’s Medallion program.

Tampa has added more than 40 new routes over the last two years. The airport is currently on pace to surpass 21 million passengers in 2018, up from 19.6 million in 2017; and expects to reach 24 million passengers within five years…
