Menzies Aviation wins JetSMART contract across 11 Colombian airports

Menzies Aviation, the leading service partner to the world’s airports and airlines, has won a new contract with JetSMART to provide a full suite of ground handling services at 11 airports across Colombia, more than doubling its network in the country.

The new multi-airport agreement marks the start of Menzies partnership with JetSMART in Colombia and builds on an established relationship in Chile, where Menzies supports the airline in 10 cities.

Operations got underway this month at Menzies existing Colombian airports – Barranquilla (BAQ), Bogotá (BOG), Cali (CLO), and Medellín (MDE) – and the seven new airports including Bucaramanga (BGA), Cartagena (CTG), Cúcuta (CUC), Montería (MTR), Pereira (PEI), San Andrés (ADZ) and Santa Marta (SMR).

Menzies will support more than 43,000 turns per year as part of the operation, reflecting the rapid growth of JetSMART’s network in Colombia and its increasing presence across the domestic market.

The new operation will be supported by a team of trained professionals and modern ground support equipment, including lower emission assets that contribute to Menzies’ net zero ambitions.

JetSMART continues to expand its Colombian network, and the new contract gives it a consistent ground handling partner across key destinations nationwide. For Menzies, the agreement represents a significant expansion of its operations in one of Latin America’s fastest-growing aviation markets.

Hassan El-Houry, Chief Executive Officer, Menzies Aviation, said: “We are pleased to expand our partnership with JetSMART into Colombia. It significantly grows our presence in the country and reflects the trust airlines place in Menzies to deliver safe, reliable, and high-quality services in established and new locations. We look forward to supporting JetSMART as it continues to grow its network.”

Rodrigo Barrios, COO of JetSMART Airlines, said: “We value strategic partnerships with providers that support the operational reliability and consistency of our network across the region. Expanding our work with Menzies into Colombia reinforces the importance of having partners that share our focus on safety, efficiency and service quality as we continue strengthening our operations in the country.”
