Airports Council International Latin America and the Caribbean (ACI-LAC) congratulates Flamingo International Airport – Bonaire for obtaining the Airport Health Accreditation.
The ACI Airport Health Accreditation (AHA) programme provides airports with an assessment of how aligned their health measures are with the ACI Aviation Business Restart and Recovery guidelines and the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) Council Aviation Restart Task Force recommendations along with industry best practices and the World Health Organization.
Aviation and tourism are key economic drivers for national economies and society at large, particularly in island nations. ACI-LAC is encouraging governments to restart air travel as soon as possible without the imposition of quarantines as this measure kills demand. There are alternatives in place, such as tests before travel, that are more effective in bringing back demand to air travel and destinations, and safer for everyone.
Dr. Rafael Echevarne, Director General of ACI-LAC, said: “By obtaining the AHA, Flamingo Airport demonstrates its commitment to protecting the health of passengers and airport employees and contributing to the economic and social development”.
Jos Hillen, CEO of Bonaire International Airport, quotes: “We are very proud to become certified by the ACI AHA programme. It shows how dedicated we are to the island, our passengers and all employees. Our task now is to operate as efficient as possible to reduce costs without endangering the health and safety of our visitors, passengers and employees”.
