Aer Lingus announces big increase in winter flights

Aer Lingus has unveiled what it says is its largest ever winter flights schedule, including 350 extra transatlantic flights where capacity will grow by 13pc. This is aided by the introduction of a new Airbus A330-300, which will be in operation for the full 2017/18 winter season.

The schedule includes a new direct flight from Dublin to Miami. The route starts on 1st September and will operate three times a week.

Aer Lingus is also boosting its Dublin to Toronto capacity by 96pc, with four flights a week operated on a larger Airbus A330.

Washington flight frequency will increase to daily towards the end of the year- a 44% growth in seat availability.

Although Aer Lingus recently ended operations at Cardiff Airport, Flybe will be operating up to 18 flights a week from Cardiff Airport to Dublin this winter in a codeshare agreement with Aer Lingus. This gives Welsh passenger"™s easy access to their network via Dublin.

The codeshare means passengers can enjoy a seamless transfer from Cardiff Airport to Aer Lingus destinations including Boston, Chicago, Hartford, Los Angeles, New York, Orlando, San Francisco, Toronto and Washington without having multiple tickets from different carriers…
