The Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) announced today that Latin America and Caribbean airlines carried 13 million passengers in June, up 5.5% from the previous year, excluding domestic traffic in Brazil, marking the 70th consecutive month of passenger traffic growth for Latin America and Caribbean airlines. Traffic (RPK) grew 8.7% and capacity (ASK) increased 7.3%, bringing up the load factor to 82.9%, equivalent to 1.1 percentage points higher than in June 2016.
Overall, Latin America and Caribbean airlines carried 19.9 million passengers in June, up 4.6% – or 876,000 more passengers – from the previous year. Traffic (RPK) grew 7.1% and capacity (ASK) increased 5.3%, bringing up the load factor to 82.3%, 1.4 percentage points higher than in June 2016.
