American Airlines is adding a new international destination to its network this week with the introduction of nonstop service from Miami International Airport (MIA) to South Caicos Airport (XSC). The first flight will depart from Miami on Saturday, using an Embraer E175 operated by Envoy Air as American Eagle.
As one of the smaller islands in the Turks and Caicos archipelago, South Caicos is known affectionately by locals as “The Big South,” but is far less visited than the main island of Providenciales or the cruise ship center at Grand Turk. Yet for many visitors, that is part of the attraction, and with several new resorts and residential developments arriving with a focus on luxury travelers, American Airlines is looking to tap into the growth of this premium market…
