This summer Iberia launches important new developments to make its customers’ travel experience more comfortable and appealing. These improvements include new functionalities in customer service channels, on-board meals, and VIP lounges, among others.
Functionalities and services offered through the airline’s WhatsApp channel (34 676 67 60 04) were expanded, and customers can now check in and obtain their boarding pass for various destinations – domestic, European Schengen, United Kingdom, Ireland, Chile, Peru, and Uruguay-, review their reservation details, and receive notifications about their flight. In addition, payments will soon be able to be made through this channel for certain services, including the purchase of additional luggage. An exclusive WhatsApp channel was also opened for Iberia Plus Platinum, Infinita and Infinita Prime customers.
The improvements in the digital user experience also include new functionalities on the Iberia.com website and its native applications, with an improved search engine, new content such as interactive maps, relevant destination information and greater visibility on the documentation required to travel. In addition, new seat maps and the possibility of changing to the same type of seat free of charge are now offered. Customers can also personalise their profile using My Iberia, which will allow them, in a single click, to speed up their reservation, check-in and flight change processes.
New Meals On Board
With the arrival of summer, the onboard meals on long-haul flights were renewed. Among the new Business Class dishes on offer, customers will be able to find octopus marinated in orange and paprika, accompanied by potatoes and escarole sprouts, grilled beef tenderloin in oxtail juice, grilled prawns in a creamy seafood sauce, and handmade panzerotti pasta filled with parmesan. In Business, customers will be welcomed on board with a new grapefruit mocktail, chosen by popular vote by visitors to the Espacio Iberia since April.
An improved selection of wines and new premium liquors were also included, to be enjoyed at any time during the flight by customers traveling in the Business cabin.
In Premium Economy, among other dishes, passengers can choose a salad with mayonnaise and Piquillo pepper or braised beef cheeks on a white bean mousseline, and in Economy, homemade meatballs in romesco sauce. All of this served on new trays and on more sustainable dishes. In these two classes, new Magnum ice creams and a new hot sandwich pre-landing service were also added.
The Gastrobar menu was renewed with new choices such as a brioche bread sandwich with bacon and pepper jam, a vegetable sandwich and a hazelnut cookie filled with Nutella. Since July, on shorter flights, customers can request this service from their seat with their own device.
The Pre-Order menu was also renovated, with new products such as creamy rice risotto with mushrooms, stuffed eggplant, and an assortment of tapas. And customers who want to celebrate on board can do so by reserving the special celebration pack, which includes cava and cake, and make payments through Google Pay and Apple Pay.
New Amenity Kits
Another novelty is the new toiletry bags designed by Teresa Helbig, inspired by her uniforms for Iberia and which are now available in Business and Premium Economy class on long-haul flights. A design in which blue, red and yellow tones are combined.
These sustainable toiletry bags are produced by recycling 7.5 million plastic bottles, and include, for the Business cabin, new natural and vegan cosmetic products, made 100% in Spain by Uvas Frescas with the surplus from grape harvests used to make Araex wines, offered on Iberia flights, and with packaging made from sugar cane.
In addition, they are packaged by Envera, the Iberia employee association for parents of people with disabilities, which employs around 850 people with learning disabilities.
More Content for the Summer
As for the in-flight entertainment system, exclusive content from Disney+ is now included, as well as new US releases such as «Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire», «Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire» and «Kung Fu Panda 4», and Spanish film premieres such as «Looking for Coque», «Little Loves» and «Perfect Strangers», and new podcasts.
New Features for Premium Customers at the Airport
The Iberia Premium Lounges in the Barajas T4 also offer new features, with an improvement in the digitalisation of the available services that customers can access using a QR code, to have all the information they need in the palm of their hand.
In the lounges, the menus have also been renewed, with new designs adapted to the summer season.
Meanwhile, from 1 July to 31 December, Platinum, Infinita and Infinita Prime customers will receive a voucher to use on their trips to the airport with Cabify.
More Frequencies and Destinations
Iberia continues to focus on Latin America, with constant growth in its operations in the 18 destinations it flies to in 16 countries in this region.
The airline’s connectivity between Europe and Latin America this year will set a new record, far exceeding 5.3 million seats, which represents a growth of 16.4% compared to last year. Argentina, Brazil, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico are the countries to see the largest increases in capacity.
Another key focus continues to be the United States. For this summer season, Iberia offers 126 weekly flights to the eight destinations it flies to in the country: New York, Miami, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, and Washington DC.
Lastly, new destinations were added in Europe, such as Ljubljana, where the airline will begin flying on 29 July, and Tirana, a recently inaugurated route. The network of destinations has been expanded in Italy, adding Cagliari and Palermo, and in Portugal, with flights to Ponta Delgada, Faro, and Funchal.
