U.S. citizens* in Tel Aviv seeking to return to the U.S. have new travel options as the U.S. Department of State charters flights out of Ben Gurion Airport (TLV) to European destinations. Passengers will then be able to take commercial flights back to the U.S., including on Delta.

HOW CITIZENS IN TLV CAN RETURN TO THE U.S. WITH DELTA
Register for the U.S. Dept. of State charter flights | With no U.S. airline operating at TLV, the U.S. Department of State announced Thursday it’s arranging charter flights to assist U.S. citizens and their immediate family members wishing to leave Israel. Registration for these charter flights is required via the Dept. of State’s online form. |
Book a seat on Delta flight 9901 out of Athens to New York JFK | Delta customers with existing Delta itineraries that already include TLV travel.
These customers must call Delta Reservations 1-800-221-1212 and speak to a Delta Reservations specialist who can change their reservation and book an available seat on one of the new direct flight options out of Athens. The specialist will also be able to assist with connecting flights if New York is not the final destination. While Delta has issued a waiver for customers to change existing TLV itineraries and process their own refunds digitally, the unique circumstances of these extra flights for those exiting TLV via charter mean a Delta Reservations specialist is needed to change the reservation. Attempts to change the reservation via the Fly Delta app or Delta.com could result in fare difference charges, despite Delta implementing a waiver in the market. Customers without existing Delta itineraries Delta welcomes any traveler coming to Athens on a U.S. Dept. of State charter who wants to return to the U.S. with us. These travelers should visit Delta.com to purchase a ticket and reserve their seat(s) or call Delta Reservations 1-800-221-1212 for assistance. Delta has instituted fare caps in the market. |
Book a seat on any Delta flight back to the United States | Delta customers who have already exited Israel and who want to return to the United States from another market should use the Delta TLV waiver to make the needed changes to their itinerary. They can also call Delta Reservations for assistance. |
KEEPING SEATS OPEN FOR THOSE EXITING TLV
While Delta’s new direct flights from Athens to New York are available for booking on Delta.com, the Fly Delta app and via Delta Reservations, we ask that travelers not making their way back to U.S. from TLV refrain from booking these flights.
MONITORING BOOKINGS FOR ADDITIONAL REPATRIATION SUPPORT
Delta will continue to work with the U.S. Department of State and monitor bookings on these three new flights to determine whether additional seats from the market are needed.
ONGOING ASSESSMENT OF TLV MARKET
Delta people are keeping those impacted top of mind as we continuously monitor the rapidly evolving security environment and assess our operations based on security guidance and intelligence reports, including the most recent U.S. Department of State travel advisory.
While booking is suspended for TLV flights to/from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) and Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), customers can make reservations on flights between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and TLV for travel Nov. 1 and beyond. Seats on Delta partner airlines remain bookable on Delta.com and through Delta Reservations when available.
Customers should be prepared for possible adjustments to our TLV flight schedule, including additional cancelations on a rolling basis, as needed for the safety of our customers and crew while remaining committed to assisting those needing travel.
DELTA CONTRIBUTES TO HUMANITARIAN SUPPORT FOR THOSE IMPACTED IN THE REGION
Delta has contributed $1 million to the American Red Cross for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) toward humanitarian efforts for Israelis, Palestinians and all people impacted in the region.
Members of the Red Cross movement, Magen David Adom (MDA) and the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) have mobilized to provide emergency assistance such as health services, emergency care, ambulance services and other critical needs. It is anticipated that this situation will remain extremely volatile. The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and the International Committee of the Red Cross are coordinating closely with both MDA and PRCS.
The American Red Cross is Delta’s longest-standing nonprofit partner, and the partnership has allowed the airline, its customers and employees to help people in need worldwide since 1941. This contribution is in addition to Delta’s $1 million grant to the American Red Cross as an Annual Disaster Giving Program partner.
