Next year, Eurowing"™ long-haul route network will grow substantially. Starting in April 2018, Eurowings, currently the fastest-growing airline, will offer departures from New York to Düsseldorf on an almost daily basis. Also beginning during the 2018 summer flight schedule, the airline will offer routes from Miami and Fort Myers, in Florida, to the state capital of North Rhine-Westphalia. This will occur three times per week.
The New York to Düsseldorf flight will begin on April 28, 2018, and will operate daily, except Tuesdays. Flights from Miami to Düsseldorf will start on May 4, 2018, and will operate on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The Eurowings route from Fort Myers will be operated for the first time on May 3, 2018 and thereafter on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
The three new direct flights to and from the United States to Düsseldorf are part of the airline"™s ongoing expansion of its low-cost, long-haul offering. Just recently, the first Eurowings long-haul flight departed from Düsseldorf to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. This route, along with the existing Eurowings flight to Cancun, Mexico, will be continued in the 2018 summer flight schedule.
Oliver Wagner, Eurowings Chief Commercial Officer, commented: "Our new destinations in New York and Florida are merely the start. In summer 2018, we"™ll be increasing our fleet in Düsseldorf and thus expanding our leading position in Düsseldorf and North Rhine-Westphalia even further."
Eurowings is one of the pioneers of the low-cost, long-haul flight and has been operating successfully in this growth segment for two years. The airline flies to destinations all over the world, from the Caribbean, to the Far East and the United States. The booking figures have been very good from the outset. According to Wagner, "The courage we"™ve shown by investing heavily in the new business model of low-cost, long-haul routes has paid off for us. Eurowings is now the fastest growing airline in Europe and is also seriously upping the ante on the long-haul."
