In Panama, Martes Financiero reported that the International Air Transport Association (IATA) considered that Latin America and the Caribbean region has the potential capacity to produce up to 200 billion liters of SAF, which would represent 37% of the industry’s fuel needs.
“Between 130 billion and 200 billion liters of SAF or other alternative fuels for aviation could be produced in the region, which would represent 37% of the consumption that includes not only regional airlines, but also European and Asian ones that operate flights to Latin America and the Caribbean,” said Pedro de la Fuente, senior sustainability manager at IATA.
