Insignia by Avianca Recognized at the Onboard Hospitality Awards for Its Culinary Experience

Avianca’s Insignia by Avianca Business Class menu, featured on flights between Europe and Latin America, has been recognized as Highly Commended in the Best Onboard Menu or Meal category at the prestigious Onboard Hospitality Awards. Competing against 11 other nominated products, the airline stood out for its culinary offering. The award, presented by Onboard Hospitality magazine, celebrates excellence and innovation in the global inflight service industry and is considered one of the industry’s top honors. The 2025 edition took place on April 8 in Hamburg, Germany, during the World Travel Catering & Onboard Expo.

This recognition highlights the quality, presentation, and concept of Avianca’s menu designed by chef Álvaro Clavijo, founder of El Chato—the Bogotá-based restaurant ranked No. 25 on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list. His proposal was built around carefully selected Colombian ingredients and culinary techniques that enhance flavor at cruising altitudes above 36,000 feet. The menu’s development and onboard operation were carried out in collaboration with strategic partners, ensuring high standards at every stage—from design and preparation to inflight service delivery.

“Receiving this recognition at the Onboard Hospitality Awards reaffirms our commitment to offering a world-class onboard experience that celebrates the best of Colombian and Latin American gastronomy,” said Katherine Stradaioli, Avianca’s Vice President of Customer Delivery. “This is a shared achievement between Avianca, chef Álvaro Clavijo, all the stakeholders involved in bringing this proposal to our cabins, and, of course, Colombia’s rich culinary heritage, which has been our greatest source of inspiration.”

The award-winning menu is available on flights departing from Bogotá to all destinations in Europe and selected routes in Latin America, exclusively from Cali to Europe, and on flights from Spain to Colombia.
