JetSMART has announced a significant restructuring of its executive team, introducing changes aimed at reinforcing its regional expansion strategy. Gabriela León Soler, who previously led the network planning and strategy division, has been appointed as the new Country Manager for Chile, while Pedro Asenjo, the outgoing Country Manager, will now serve as Director of Strategy and Network Planning for the entire company.
The announcement was made by JetSMART CEO Estuardo Ortiz, who praised both executives in a social media post for their contributions to the airline’s growth since its inception.
Organizational changes to support growth
Founded in 2016 by Indigo Partners, JetSMART has built a strong route network connecting destinations within Chile, Argentina, Peru, Colombia, and Brazil, in addition to international routes. The airline has transported over 39 million passengers and operates a fleet of 46 aircraft under the ultra low-cost carrier (ULCC) model.
In this context, the leadership changes are designed to strengthen two strategic areas: local leadership in Chile—JetSMART’s home market—and the broader planning of its regional growth in an increasingly competitive environment.
Gabriela León brings extensive internal knowledge and familiarity with JetSMART’s organizational culture. In her previous role, she was directly involved in route design and execution, as well as the evaluation of expansion opportunities.
