Lufthansa Technik has signed a multi-year contract with LATAM Airlines Group, the largest airline group in Latin America, to implement AVIATAR across its Airbus A320, Boeing 777 and Boeing 787 fleets – covering more than 300 aircraft. LATAM is using AVIATAR’s Predictive Health Analytics to transform data into actionable insights, enabling the airline to optimize technical operations and minimize unexpected disruptions, such as flight delays or cancellations. Additionally, AVIATAR’s Electronic Technical Logbook digitizes cockpit-to-maintenance communication, improving efficiency.
Predictive Health Analytics is a state-of-the-art digital solution within AVIATAR, Lufthansa Technik’s independent platform for digital products and services. Based on live data from aircraft and airline systems, the digital tool enables LATAM to optimize fleet maintenance by predicting potential technical issues before they occur, enhancing operational reliability and reducing unplanned maintenance events. This means fewer unexpected repairs, improved fleet reliability and better planning for maintenance. Ultimately, these benefits contribute to a safer, more efficient and seamless travel experience for LATAM’s passengers. First results from LATAM confirm 20 percent fewer delays and cancellations with Predictive Health Analytics.
AVIATAR’s Technical Logbook streamlines aircraft issue reporting from cockpit crews by replacing time-consuming manual entries with pre-filled text blocks and automated input fields. The solution captures technical issues in real time, both in-flight and on the ground, significantly improving data quality and transparency. Compatible with multiple devices – including tablets, smartphones, and desktop computers – it allows pilots to access aircraft status anytime, anywhere, with built-in backup processes in case of connectivity issues. By integrating real-time data with LATAM’s Maintenance & Engineering (M&E) system, the solution facilitates immediate maintenance actions upon arrival, ensuring seamless collaboration between pilots and maintenance teams. This reduces turnaround times and operational costs, while also enabling trend analysis through a standardized data structure, supporting continuous fleet optimization.
As part of this strategic partnership, Lufthansa Technik and LATAM will jointly address key challenges, leverage further data-driven solutions and shape future product innovations to enhance LATAM’s technical operations and maximize the benefits of Lufthansa Technik’s Digital Tech Ops Ecosystem.
Enrique Parada, Vice President of Engineering and Maintenance at LATAM Airlines Group, said: “Lufthansa Technik has proven to be a key partner for LATAM in our digital transformation roadmap. This agreement is a major step towards leveraging data-driven insights for optimized maintenance operations. We envision significant potential to integrate more AVIATAR products in the future.”
Philip Mende, Vice President Digital Fleet Services at Lufthansa Technik, added: “We are proud to support LATAM’s transformation with the most comprehensive digital solutions available. Our collaboration with LATAM is focused on jointly developing predictive maintenance use cases, creating tangible impact through digital tools in LATAM’s technical operations, and further enhancing the benefits of our Digital Tech Ops Ecosystem.”
Launched in 2017, AVIATAR provides a comprehensive suite of digital solutions, ranging from predictive maintenance to automated fulfillment. By combining fleet management tools, data science and engineering expertise, AVIATAR delivers integrated digital services that seamlessly connect with physical maintenance operations and beyond. Its modular design allows customization to meet diverse operational needs and requirements. AVIATAR plays a central role in Lufthansa Technik’s Digital Tech Ops Ecosystem, enhancing efficiency and reliability across technical operations.
About the Digital Tech Ops Ecosystem:
Lufthansa Technik’s Digital Tech Ops Ecosystem is based on three central pillars: AMOS, the world’s leading software for M&E (maintenance and engineering) and MRO (maintenance, repair, overhaul), AVIATAR, the independent platform for data and analytics solutions, and flydocs, the digital document and asset management solution. These three units operate independently but work together to integrate their modular solutions in a customer-centric and collaborative way. The Ecosystem was developed to make technical operations more economical and efficient. This improves operational stability, increases aircraft availability and maximizes their value over the entire life and leasing cycle.
