Latin America: Aviation fuel executives discussed the sustainable future of the industry

A joint face-to-face meeting of the Fuel Committee of the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association -ALTA- and the Americas Regional Fuel Working Group of the International Air Transport Association -IATA- was held in Mexico City. The event took place from February 22 to 24. It counted with the participation of senior executives from 13 airlines and 16 companies that supply fuel and other aviation services.

During the summit, relevant issues for the regional industry were discussed. Especially those focused on the fuel used to propel aircraft. Topics such as «regulatory updates on sustainable aviation fuels, fees and transparency in fuel prices in the region were discussed. There were presentations by Jaime Escobar, ALTA’s Director of Fuels and Charges, Daniel Chereau, IATA’s Deputy Director of Fuels, and Pedro de la Fuente, IATA’s Manager of External Relations and Sustainability.

The SAF was one of the protagonists of the meeting, given its importance in addressing the environmental issue in the short term. On the other hand, the production, distribution, and supply of PBS in the region and the experience in the supply of some companies were presented.
