LOT Polish Airlines has entered into a strategic partnership with SkyNRG to advance sustainability efforts.
The recent collaboration involves the purchase of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) from SkyNRG, emphasizing LOT’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and fostering environmentally responsible practices in aviation.
Fuel Efficiency Management
The agreement with SkyNRG is a testament to LOT Polish Airlines’ unwavering commitment to minimizing the environmental impact of flight operations.
LOT has implemented a Fuel Efficiency Management Policy, directly influencing the reduction of CO2 emissions from its flights. The collaboration with SkyNRG aligns with LOT’s broader decarbonization strategy and showcases the airline’s dedication to sustainability.
Dorota Dmuchowska, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of LOT, stated, “LOT Polish Airlines’ cooperation with SkyNRG is a guarantee of a lasting business relationship between two strong players in the aviation market”.
Book and Claim Arrangement
As part of the partnership, LOT opted for a Book and Claim arrangement, a strategic choice that ensures the delivery of SAF to the Amsterdam Schiphol Airport hydrant system.
This approach allows LOT to access the carbon reduction benefits of SAF without physically using the fuel on its own aircraft. It not only saves carbon emissions but also reduces costs associated with unnecessary fuel transport.
LOT’s collaborative approach to fund the SAF offtake involved voluntary contributions from passengers who share the airline’s dedication to lower carbon emissions.
This initiative highlights LOT’s responsiveness to the expectations of environmentally-conscious passengers and their willingness to actively contribute to sustainable aviation practices.
Milestone in Sustainable Direction
LOT’s purchase of SAF underlines the consistent implementation of its sustainability strategy, particularly within the Destination ECO program. Mateusz Dziudziel, Director of the Fuel Department at LOT, emphasized,
“The agreement with SkyNRG is the next milestone of a sustainable and balanced direction within the framework of reducing emissions from our flight operations, also in the context of the adopted strategy for 2024 – 2028”…
