The Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport is adding a new airline, the airport said Tuesday.
WOW Air will begin operating at CVG in May 2018. The low-cost international airline offers one-way flights to Iceland starting at $99 and other international destinations for $149.
Before today, many had never even heard of Wow Airlines.
«They will begin service here on May 9, with direct service to Iceland, for the cost of $99 each way. Yes, $99 for a six hour flight to Iceland," said CVG CEO Candace McGraw.
That has changed with CVG"™s announcement of new, low cost, international flights coming to the airport next spring. The only direct flight is a $99 ride to Iceland. From there, an extra $50 takes you to Berlin, Paris, Dublin, and more.
«It’s another example of you can live here, and you can travel anywhere in the world, and it’s a great place to be," said Kentucky"™s Chamber of Commerce President Brent Cooper.
Wow Airlines launched in 2015, and is known for their colorful, cheap flights. Now they"™re catching the eye of locals who love to travel.
«It’s definitely a temptation to look and find some great flights," said Michael Trujillo.
Saving money is great, but some people are concerned that trading Fountain Square for the Eiffel Tower might come at a cost.
«I would also be concerned that some of the domestic flights that are less expensive aren’t overly comfortable – which you give up something for those prices," explained Heather Sinnott.
The base price of $99 or $149 flights includes your flight and one small personal item. According to Wow"™s website, you pay hundreds extra for different options that include carry-ons, checked bags, meals, extra leg room, and cancellation protection…
