The new international arrivals area enters operation today, marking a key milestone in the expansion project that is transforming Ecuador’s most connected airport. Corporación Quiport is investing US$ 74.2 million in this project, which has already reached 65% completion and is on track for final delivery in December this year.
What is changing with this new area?
An additional area of 3,500 m² has been added to optimize the arrival process for international passengers. The customs area, X-ray screening, and public arrival hall have been expanded to make the entry process more comfortable, faster, and more efficient.
What has been accomplished so far?
A new 35,000 m² apron is now completed, with parking positions for large aircraft (code E and C). It is currently undergoing certification with the aviation authority and includes a new boarding bridge.
Advanced electrical systems have been installed, including a main generator, over 3,000 meters of fiber optics, and 16 communication rooms.
The baggage handling system and technical systems such as HVAC and fire protection networks are progressing rapidly.
What’s next…
The following will be opened in October:
A new public departures hall.
A new check-in area with 20 counters for international airlines.
A new 1,800 m² boarding lounge ready to welcome more passengers in improved conditions.
An investment focused on people
With this vision, Quiport reaffirms its commitment to the development of Quito Airport, offering greater capacity, improved services, and more spacious areas for passengers.
