Mariscal Sucre International Airport continues to set milestones in the air cargo industry. According to the 2024 regional air cargo ranking, published by the Airports Council International of Latin America and the Caribbean (ACI-LAC), Quito Airport reached 5th place among the main cargo airports in Latin America and the Caribbean, surpassing large terminals such as the airports in Mexico City, Lima, Buenos Aires, and others.
In 2024, Quito Airport recorded an impressive volume of 363,553 tons of cargo transported, surpassing the 335,407 tons reached in 2023, an increase of 8.4%. With this achievement, Mariscal Sucre has surpassed important airports in the region, such as Lic. Benito Juárez Airport in Mexico City, Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima, and Ezeiza International Airport in Buenos Aires, among others.
At the national level, Quito Airport is Ecuador’s main air cargo hub, processing up to 94% of all air cargo in the country.
An increase in cargo volumes transported is expected by 2025. A notable example was the 2025 Valentine’s Day peak season, which saw a record 28,779 tons, representing an 8.7% increase compared to the same season in 2024. Currently, the airport is served by 15 cargo airlines, which benefit from its modern facilities.
Ramón Miró, President and CEO of Quiport:
“This achievement reflects the logistical and operational facilities we offer: a modern cargo terminal, a logistics center within the airport, and efficient operations. We are a strategic platform for Ecuadorian foreign trade and a partner for all stakeholders involved in this activity. We are proud to contribute to the country’s development and to work together with our logistics partners to bring the best of Ecuador to the world.”
