US regional airline Republic Airways has finalized an order for 100 Embraer E175s, and taken purchase rights on a further 100, building on a letter of intent (LOI) that was first announced at the Farnborough Air Show in July.
“The firm order has a value of $4.69 billion, based on current list prices, and will be included in Embraer’s 2018 fourth-quarter backlog. Deliveries will start in 2020,” Embraer said in a statement, issued Dec. 20.
Republic Airways is the world’s largest E-Jet operator, with a fleet of nearly 190 E170/175s, which are used to operate flights for American Eagle, Delta Connection and United Express.
“[This order] positions Republic to compete for the more than 300 regional aircraft we anticipate being up for bid during the next five years, as existing flying agreements expire with our global codeshare partners,” Republic president & CEO Bryan Bedford said.
