Volaris becomes the only airline to connect Costa Rica and Jalisco with the start of non-stop flights between San José (SJO) and Guadalajara (GDL). With this new service, the low-cost airline operates in three Mexican destinations, complementing its operations to Mexico City and Cancun. In addition, Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla International Airport already has two services to Central America, adding the existing service to Panama-Tocumen by Copa Airlines.
Customers traveling between San José and Guadalajara can connect to domestic destinations in Mexico such as Tijuana, Monterrey, Mexico City, Puerto Vallarta and Los Cabos, as well as international services to Los Angeles, Fresno, Ontario and Houston in the United States.
Volaris’ network in Guadalajara offers 21 destinations to the United States and 26 to Mexico. The connection between Jalisco and Costa Rica will boost connectivity in both regions, the low-cost airline will also provide access to other destinations in Central America such as El Salvador and Guatemala.
According to statistical reports from the Federal Civil Aviation Agency of Mexico, in the period from January to September 2024, 451,989 passengers were transported on 3,500 flights between Mexico and Costa Rica, with Volaris, between its Mexican and Costa Rican subsidiaries, owning 35.5% of the market share…
