Brazilian airline Latam, part of the Chilean-Brazilian Latam Airlines Group – the largest airline in Latin America with subsidiaries in Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay and Peru – has launched in-flight WiFi on board nine A319 aircraft in domestic routes.
The service will soon be extended to flights to a number of destinations elsewhere in Latin America. The system is part of the Latam Play platform, which aims to bring together in one channel connectivity features and a variety of content.
The 2Ku in-flight, satellite-supported Wi-Fi technology is provided (and was developed) by Gogo, a US-based provider of in-flight broadband Internet service and other connectivity services for commercial and business aircraft.
The airline expects that 30 aircraft of the Airbus A320 family (which includes both A319 and A320) will offer the service by the end of 2018…
