The Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) announced that ALTA member airlines carried 10.2 million passengers in March, up 8.5% from the previous year, excluding domestic traffic in Brazil (see table 1). Traffic (RPK) grew 9.3% and capacity (ASK) increased 7.4%, bringing up the load factor to 78.8%, equivalent to 1.4 percentage points higher than in March 2015. Freight ton kilometers decreased 6.7% in March 2016 as compared with the same month the previous year, reaching 368 million FTKs.
ALTA member airlines – including Brazil domestic traffic – carried 14.96 million passengers in March, down 0.02% – or 3,500 fewer passengers – from the previous year (see table 2).
