IAG Cargo has today announced it has signed a global container rental agreement with high tech insulation provider Va-Q-tec. The agreement will allow IAG Cargo customers requiring temperature sensitive transportation to utilise Va-Q-tainers to transport their cargo in a safe and cost efficient way.
The Va-Q-tainers deployed by IAG Cargo provide temperature controlled solutions for six temperature ranges ranging from -70°C to +25°C in five container sizes and will be used as an advance passive shipping solution. The units use a cutting-edge face change material which, when placed in the correct environment, allows the coolant to be re-charged; which provides a consistent layer of protection from temperature deviation. In addition, Va-Q-tainers have no electrical input, instead deploying a phase change material, which makes them well suited to be shipped worldwide. As a result, Va-Q-tainers do not require the same level of moderation as active shipments throughout the journey, yet still provide deviation-free shipping of temperature sensitive pharmaceutical and biotechnological goods.
"This agreement offers our customers wanting to ship temperature sensitive goods an excellent and cost efficient solution," commented Alan Dorling, Global Head, Pharmaceuticals and Life Sciences at IAG Cargo. "With consistent year on year growth in Constant Climate shipments, we are continually investing in innovative customer solutions that match our own high standards; as such we are fully confident that this agreement will be welcomed by customers looking to ship pharmaceuticals across the globe."
"We are delighted to partner with IAG Cargo. The broad network offered by IAG Cargo and the integrated Va-Q-tainer rental option will provide pharma shippers with a reliable door to door temperature controlled solution that meets challenging requirements for global health care flow" added Dominic Hyde, Managing Director Va-Q-tec Limited.
