IAG Cargo"™s new five per week freighter service between Hong Kong and London Stansted started today. The service, operated on behalf of IAG Cargo by Qatar Airways, will be on a Boeing 777F and will benefit customers through the high capacity lift and flexibility associated with freighters.
Steve Gunning, CEO of IAG Cargo commented: "This marks an important new chapter in our history. In line with our wider strategy, we remain focused on providing the right capacity for the unique requirements of each route. In the case of Hong Kong, it is clear that business demand requires the extra lift provided by freighters and we are happy to be able to meet this requirement."
The new service replaces freighters previously leased from Global Supply Systems. The last flight operated by GSS took off from Stansted this morning at 0641. The first flight of the new operation departed Hong Kong at 1828 local time today, and was operated by Qatar Airways under the new flight number BA3314. All future flights departing from Hong Kong will leave in the evening and on the peak cargo days of the week: Wednesday – Sunday. Each flight will deliver approximately 80 tons of capacity to Hong Kong businesses.
IAG Cargo connects 350 destinations worldwide, serving the world"™s economic hubs with cargo-friendly aircraft.
