Miami International Airport will keep operating ahead of Hurricane Irma as long as possible, according to Miami-Dade officials. Mayor Carlos Gimenez announced on Wednesday that the airport would remain open until sustained winds reach 35 MPH. The Miami airport is among the busiest in the United States with many flights to and from Latin America each day.
