Airports in Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, and Panama ranked among the busiest in Latin America and the Caribbean in 2025

The Airports Council International Latin America and the Caribbean (ACI-LAC) has released preliminary data on the 10 busiest airports in the region during 2025, highlighting leading terminals in total passengers, international passengers, air cargo, and aircraft movements. The total number of passengers exceeded 790 million, representing a 3.8% increase in air traffic compared to the previous year.

In 2025, São Paulo–Guarulhos Airport (Brazil) was the busiest in the region, handling more than 47.1 million passengers. It was followed closely by El Dorado Airport (Bogotá, Colombia) with over 45.4 million passengers, and Mexico City International Airport (Mexico City, Mexico) with more than 44.6 million.

A notable milestone was Rio de Janeiro’s Galeao International Airport, which recorded a 23.5% increase in air traffic between 2024 and 2025, reaching 17.9 million passengers in 2025.

“The 2025 results demonstrate the resilience of the region’s leading airports. Guarulhos, El Dorado, and Benito Juárez have consolidated their positions as strategic hubs, driven by international connectivity and the recovery of domestic demand. The significant growth of Galeão International Airport in Rio de Janeiro, illustrates how infrastructure investment and tourism promotion can transform a terminal’s performance. These figures confirm that aviation in the region continues to expand, even in the face of global challenges, and underscore the role of our airports as essential engines of economic and social development,” said Rafael Echevarne, Director General of ACI-LAC.
