ACI Latin America-Caribbean/World Annual General Assembly postponed

Airports Council International (ACI) Latin America-Caribbean and ACI World have today announced the postponement of its Annual General Assembly, Conference and Exhibition to November 2021.

The event was originally planned for 7 to 11 November 2020 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, hosted by Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 (AA2000). The decision to postpone it was taken in response to the severe and prolonged impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the global community.

ACI is working with host AA2000 to confirm dates to hold the event in November 2021.

“Our foremost priority remains to safeguard the health, safety and well-being of all participants at the conference,” ACI World Director General Angela Gittens said. “We have been closely monitoring the global situation in conjunction with advice and directives from local government and health authorities since the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak and we have concluded that, given the ongoing uncertainties, the delivery of a productive event in 2020 will not be possible.”

President Aeropuertos Argentina 2000, CEO Corporación América Airports, and ACI World Chair, Martin Eurnekian said next year’s event will be a crucial milestone with key discussions on the continued industry recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

“While it is disappointing to postpone the ACI World/Latin America and Caribbean Annual General Assembly, Conferences and Exhibition, we look forward to bringing the industry together in 2021 in Argentina,” he said. “The COVID-19 pandemic has had a dramatic effect on our members and the wider aviation ecosystem and, as restart and recovery efforts begin around the world now, we can anticipate key discussions and decisions on sustaining the industry’s long term success next year.”

ACI Latin America-Caribbean Director General Rafael Echevarne said that, while it was disappointing to have to postpone the event this year, he looked forward to welcoming the world to Buenos Aires in 2021.

“Due to the current circumstances and in the best interest of the participants, we have decided to postpone our Annual Conference to 2021,” Rafael Echevarne said. “Our annual event is always a great opportunity to discuss relevant topics to our industry and networking, so we hope you can join us in Buenos Aires in 2021.”

The annual conference is one of the most significant events on the aviation calendar, attracting hundreds of airport and industry leaders from around the world. The event will include exhibitions and conferences for aviation professionals to network, exchange insights and receive updates on the latest industry trends.

In lieu of a physical event this year, ACI Latin America-Caribbean and ACI World will hold virtual assemblies for their members in November.
