An airline boss was pied in the face with lemon meringue in front of hundreds of people "” in what some flyers might see as a case of "just dessert" amid rising anger over the industry.
Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce was giving a talk to a crowd of 500 business leaders in Perth, Australia, on Monday when an elderly man walked up behind him and pushed the pastry right in his cake hole, the ABC reports.
The honcho briefly left the stage to clean himself off and returned with a new jacket to continue his talk apparently unfazed. Attacks like that are just the way the cookie crumbles in his position, Joyce said.
"This is certainly an unusual event, but things like this have happened in the past," he said, per The Australian.
The pie-slinger was arrested and later identified as Tony Overheu, a one-time political candidate for the conservative Nationals party, the paper reports…
