Along with its rebranding and new image, Viva expects to attain the lowest unit cost per passenger in the world while opening 15 new international routes in three years

With the commitment to continue promoting air inclusivity in Colombia and as part of its expansion strategy in the market, Viva is launching its renewed brand and accompanying growth plans, including the expected opening of 15 new international routes in the next three years. These will allow Colombians to travel throughout the continent, including new destinations that will connect the country with North America, South America and the Caribbean.

The company, which last year earned the number two market position in the country, has mobilized 2.4 million passengers as a group since the restart of air operations, demonstrating the positive momentum that the airline is currently enjoying, as well as the market’s embrace of the Low-Cost model and its attractive prices, which allow many more people to fly. Viva is a firm representative of the model, and now has set the challenging goal of having the lowest unit cost per passenger in the world. Combined with the new international offering, and the doubling of the number of aircraft in its fleet, this will allow Viva to continue offering the best prices for travelers in the region.

But that’s not all: while celebrating its ninth anniversary, the airline is unveiling the new brand image that will accompany it as seeks to continue transforming air transportation in the region, always with the highest standards of punctuality in its flights, as well as flying the youngest fleet in Colombia and the third youngest in South America. Starting today, the company will cease to be ‘Viva Air’, and now be called ‘Viva’, as a brand that is already positioned in the minds and hearts of Colombians.

“Firm with our promise to promote air inclusion, by allowing Colombians to fly more thanks to the benefits of the Low-Cost model, we announce the launch of our renewed brand that will now be just Viva. This change represents the next step for our airline and the commitment to all Colombians so that they can fly more, and to more destinations, paying less,” said Félix Antelo, President & CEO of the group. He also added that: “Nine years ago we were born as an airline determined to transform air transportation in Colombia. Today we can say that thanks to the committed work and trust of millions of Colombians, Viva projects a prominent future, in which we will continue with our expansion plans in the domestic and international markets. Our commitment to invigorate the aviation sector in the country is stronger than ever.”

As an example of the above, Viva has added four new international routes to its network this year: Cancun-Medellín, Mexico City-Medellín, Orlando-Medellín and Mexico City-Bogotá. With this launch, Viva doubles its international offer and reveals its expansion plans in which Medellín, its host city, will become America’s connections hub.

Thus, as Viva seeks to encourage development and connectivity in the region, Viva recently made Medellín and José María Córdova International Airport in the suburb of Rionegro its official center of operations, making a promise to turn the capital of Antioquia and Colombia into the new axis of the continent’s air connections. This provides unique opportunities for connectivity and savings to travelers, by connecting all of Colombia at the best prices.

With the deployment of operations to new national and international destinations this year, the airline will operate 26 routes to 12 domestic destinations and seven international routes to five destinations that include Peru, Mexico and the United States. Furthermore, as part of its commitment to expanding in the domestic and international market, Viva estimates that as a group it will transport approximately 50 million passengers from 2022 to 2025, representing a further step forward to consolidate its reputation as the best Low-Cost airline in the region.

As part of the launch of its new image and with the aim of contributing to the economic reactivation of the country, Viva has announced a super launch promotion for its travelers, with tickets on sale from today on the website of the airline www.vivaair.com with launch prices each way starting at $39,900 CO for domestic routes and as low as $117 USD to international destinations, one way.

With this announcement literally painting its fleet of planes yellow and with tickets at very low prices, Viva reaffirms its commitment to the transformation of air transport in the region and the democratization of the skies in Colombia. By challenging the status quo, Viva is making air travel a more possible reality for all Colombians. This, hand in hand with its Low-Cost model, 95% punctuality in its flights and a wide network of routes, positions Viva as the most efficient and effective option when flying.
