American Airlines announced dozens of new routes Thursday, including several from DFW International Airport.
The Fort Worth-based company plans 52 new nonstop flights in 2018 as well as schedule changes to improve flight connections. That includes new daily service from DFW Airport to Panama City, Fla., and South Bend, Ind., destinations the airline does not currently serve.
DFW will also see the addition of weekend flights to five cities: Wilmington, N.C., Myrtle Beach, S.C. , Key West, Fla., Flagstaff, Ariz., and Asheville, N.C.
Many of the new routes are focused on connecting smaller cities to one of American’s major hubs to create new city pairings for customers. The connections will also help feed customers from smaller markets to hubs where they can help fill out mainline or international flights, said Vasu Raja, American’s vice president for network and schedule planning.
