British Airways Introduces 787-10 Dreamliner to Barbados

British Airways (BA) has marked a historic moment in its 70-year relationship with Barbados. The national carrier has introduced its state-of-the-art 787-10 Dreamliner service to the island.

The first of two flights was captained by Stephen Faulks and Rupert Weiss. It touched down at Grantley Adams International Airport on Sunday 31 March.

The inaugural service carried over 260 passengers eager to experience the beauty of Barbados.

A delegation of dignitaries, including Barbados’ Minister of Tourism and International Transport, Ian Gooding-Edghill, were on hand for the flight’s arrival. Together with representatives from the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI), they warmly welcomed passengers.

A Longstanding Connection
This deployment of the Dreamliner signifies more than just increased airlift for Barbados, according to Minister Gooding-Edghill.

“It’s a powerful symbol of the enduring and mutually beneficial partnership between Barbados and British Airways,” he remarked.

He expressed confidence that this long-standing collaboration will continue to yield positive results for both parties.

The Minister acknowledged the collaborative efforts that made this historic moment possible. He emphasized the importance of a continued collaboration within Barbados.

He stressed the shared responsibility to ensure a truly enjoyable and memorable experience for visitors. Minister Gooding-Edghill concluded by encouraging them to become repeat visitors and advocates for the island.

BA Extended Service to Barbados
The Dreamliner service coincides with BA’s extended service to Barbados for the 2023/2024 winter season. It will now be running through the first two weeks of April 2024.

During this peak period, BA offers increased convenience with two daily flights – one from London Heathrow and one from London Gatwick.

This deployment marks a significant distinction for Barbados. BA has chosen the island as the sole Caribbean destination to experience the Dreamliner, one of the newest and most technologically advanced aircraft in its fleet.

The 787-10 Dreamliner promises an exceptional flying experience, boasting a combination of cutting-edge technology, superior passenger comfort, and impressive fuel efficiency…
