eAWB 360 update

eAWB360 takes Mexico by storm! Recently Mexico City (MEX) held their eAWB360 event at the very-well attended Expocarga event, prior to the airport going Live and switching to e-AWB as the preferred means of shipping cargo to all destinations by using the e-AWB Single Process on 1st July.

The event was attended by over 180 people from the industry: Freight Forwarders (representing over 80 % of the export volume from MEX), Freight Forwarders Associations, Airlines, Customs officials, Warehouse staff and of course the IT service providers.

There were a lot of the engagement and coordination activities that took place prior to the event to engage and mobilize all industry stakeholders. Ultimately all the industry associations and stakeholders came to realize the importance of going digital and extended their full support for the initiative.

At the event, industry participants themselves took the floor to evaluate their current progress and identify the potential challenges and solutions. Cathay Pacific, Lufthansa and Panalpina who are currently leading the e-AWB initiative out of Mexico shared their success stories and implementation steps with the attentive audience.

It was noted that the coordinated communications sent by the airlines prior to the event served as a great call-to-action for all stakeholders to work collectively towards the shared goal of industry transformation.

The initiative was deemed so critical that Mexican Customs also announced at the same event that they are going to launch the Advanced Cargo Information program by November 2018.

The following airports are next to go live on eAWB360:
• Riyadh ( RUH 1 AUG),
• Dammam (DMM 1 AUG)
• Osaka (KIX 1 SEP)
