IATA, ALTA Sign MoU with Argentine Government to Promote Competitive Air Transport

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the Latin America and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Argentine government to optimize air transport competitiveness in Argentina. The MoU was signed by Guillermo Dietrich, Argentina"™s Transport Minister; Peter Cerda, IATA"™s Regional Vice President for the Americas and Luis Felipe de Oliveira, ALTA"™s Executive Director.
The MoU focuses on the exchange of information, expertise and capabilities in areas including:

"¢ Data sharing to support Operational Safety

"¢ Modernizing Air Traffic Management

"¢ Optimizing Airport Fuel Storage

"The Argentine air transportation is growing as never before, with records in number of passengers that are overcome month by month and thanks to more and more alternatives of connectivity, especially in the provinces throughout the country. Definitely the future of aviation in Argentina is enormously promising. We have great challenges and to deploy all the potential we must continue working together: the government, the industry, IATA and ALTA. The contribution made by this agreement is essential to continue connecting the country within the provinces and with the world," said the Minister of Transportation of Argentina Guillermo Dietrich.

"IATA is proud to be strengthening our working agreements with the Argentine government and ALTA. The MoU will open the door for further development of air transport in Argentina. Already aviation contributes $9.6 billion to GDP and 300,000 jobs in the country and we are certain that this agreement will only increase our industry"™s contributions to the country," said Peter Cerda, IATA"™s Regional Vice President for the Americas.

"ALTA is pleased with the great efforts by the Argentinean government to proactively prepare for the expected growth of the air transport industry in the region," said ALTA"™s Executive Director Luis Felipe de Oliveira. "This agreement reflects the positive joint efforts and collaboration between ALTA, IATA and the Argentine government, and will improve opportunities for airlines and passengers to have a better travel experience and will generate even further positive economic and social benefits for Argentineans and visitors."
