Lufthansa expands its long-haul network: New destinations from Frankfurt and Munich in summer 2018

Lufthansa expands its route network and will offer new intercontinental destinations from Frankfurt and Munich in summer 2018.

New from Frankfurt Hub:
San Diegans now have the opportunity to fly directly to Frankfurt and beyond. Beginning in summer 2018, Lufthansa will offer five weekly flights from San Diego, CA, to Frankfurt, Germany. Although Frankfurt is only fifth in size among German cities, the city is the financial capital of Continental Europe, rich in culture and history, and the transportation center of Germany. Every day more than 50,000 Lufthansa passengers, which amounts to more than 70% of all passengers, transfer through Frankfurt Airport.

New from Munich Hub:
Likewise, in summer 2018, Lufthansa will reintroduce the Munich route to Singapore into its flight schedule. Five times a week, passengers will be able to fly from the Bavarian capital to the lively economic metropolis in Asia. At the same time, Lufthansa will offer more frequent flights from Munich to Chicago, IL. Instead of seven times a week, Lufthansa will fly to the "Windy City" ten times weekly.

Of interest for Airbus A380-Fans: Plans foresee the introduction of the Lufthansa Airbus A380 to the long-haul destinations of Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Beijing in summer 2018. For that reason, Lufthansa will transfer five of its 14 A380 from Frankfurt to Munich.

"With the A380, we offer our Munich customers a premium aircraft at a five-star hub," said Harry Hohmeister, member of the Executive Board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG and responsible for Hub Management. "In recent years, we have made great progress in controlling our hubs. We harmonized and integrated processes and are now more flexible in utilizing our aircraft at different locations. Quality, efficiency and growth will always remain our top priority.»
