President Joe Biden has nominated Michael G. Whitaker, the Chief Operating Officer of Supernal, as the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Administrator. Whitaker has served as a Deputy Administrator for the FAA between the years of 2013 and 2016. Whitaker was responsible for a variety of initiatives in the air traffic and control systems during his time with the FAA. President Biden intends to give the administrative responsibility back in the hands of Whitaker this time around.

President Joe Biden has announced an intent to bring Michael G. Whitaker back to the administration role with the FAA. Whitaker is currently serving as Supernal’s CEO, a Hyundai Motor Group Company. The company, under the leadership of Whitaker, is designing and developing an electrical advanced air mobility vehicle. Apart from overseeing the design and commercial aspects of the next-generation vehicle, Whitaker is also responsible for the business aspects of the company.
Whitaker’s current experience allows him to be involved with next-generation carbon-neutral air mobility missions. His expertise will be valuable to the FAA Administrator role, which is constantly seeking technological and business advancements in electric and hybrid air mobility missions.
Whitaker’s past experience with the FAA
Whitaker served as the Deputy Administrator of the FAA for four years during the Obama Administration.
