Ryanair, Irish pilots’ union reach labor agreement

Ryanair and the Irish Air Line Pilots’ Association (IALPA) have reached an agreement after lengthy negotiations, marking a step forward for the LCC, which is facing conflict with its workforce in several of its European markets.

Ryanair and its pilots in Ireland have been locked in a battle over working conditions including seniority, base transfers, leading to a series of strikes in recent weeks that are part of a wider conflict with the LCC’s European workforce.

“Following a 22-hour negotiating session, which began yesterday morning [Aug. 22] and concluded this morning, agreement has been reached between Forsa and Ryanair in the pilots’ dispute,” the Forsa union, of which IALPA is a branch, said in a statement.

“The proposed agreement will now go to ballot, with a recommendation for acceptance from Forsa and its Ryanair pilot representatives”…
