Swissport sees cargo demand improve in 2017

Ground handler Swissport saw cargo demand increase in line with market growth last year.

The handler registered an 8.4% year-on-year increase in cargo volumes to 4.7m tonnes in 2017.

Revenues for the cargo segment in 2017 were up 9.2% to Sfr600m, while total company revenues improved by 6.4% to Sfr3.1bn.

Eric Born, group president and chief executive, Swissport International, said: "2017 was another successful year for Swissport. We achieved our revenue and profitability targets and grew organically through the conclusion of new client contracts and market entries.
