This month"™s analysis of the OAG (Official Airline Guide) schedules database indicates that airlines Worldwide will operate 3% more flights in January 2014 as compared to January 2013. The total number of scheduled flights operating in January 2014 is 2,624,072 with an overall seat offering of 348,738,784 an increase of 6% as compared to January 2013.
Flights and offered seats To/From North America have increased by 5% and 6% respectively. Total number of flights that will operate To/From North America is 98,973 and total offered seats are 19,333,064. Traffic Within North America reflects a small decrease of 0.1% in frequencies but an increase of 2% in offered seats. Frequencies Within North America have decreased by 718 and offered seats have increased by 1,206,351.
Flight operations Within Europe have increased by 1% and offered seats have increased by 4%. Total number of flights that will operate Within Europe is 490,213 and total offered seats are 64,208,466. Flights and offered seats To/From Europe reflect an increase of 7% and 5% respectively.
The number of flights and offered seats Within Middle East both increased by 9%. Total flights scheduled to operate Within Middle East are 50,092 and seat capacity offered is 7,780,249. Number of flights and seat capacity To/From Middle East reflect an increase of 9% and 12% respectively, with frequency of 67,397 and seat capacity of 15,326,747.
Number of flights and seat capacity To/From Asia Pacific have increased by 9% and 7% respectively. Within Asia/Pacific there will be 57,630 more flights and 10,205,060 more seats than in January 2013 resulting in an increase of 8% in flight operations and 9% in seat offerings.
Number of flights To/From Africa increased by 3% and seat capacity increased by 2%. As compared to January 2013 there will be 1,179 more flights and 116,335 more seats this month. Traffic Within Africa reflects a decrease of 1% in flight operations but a 4% increase in offered seats.
Flight operations Within Central & South America have increased by 5% and offered seats have increased by 7%. Total number of flights that will operate Within Central & South America is 245,597 and total offered seats are 27,199,943. Flights and seat capacity To/From Central & South America have also increased by 5% and 7% respectively, with 3,719 more flights and 805,933 more seats.
