IATA makes available to the industry, free of charge, COVID-19 information related to passenger ticket taxes and charges

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is making public the updates in its Ticket Tax Box Service (TTBS) related to COVID-19.

As part of the efforts to support the industry during the COVID-19 crisis, IATA makes available to the Industry updated information on the reduction of rates, charges and other special payment conditions, which different governments and airports around the world are implementing to alleviate the airlines, which have been heavily impacted by this pandemic.

The coronavirus crisis has deteriorated the world economic situation and air transport has been one of the hardest hit sectors. In this sense, the reduction of taxes, charges and rates become a vital tool for their recovery and at the same time mobilizes the economic dynamics, helps employment, connectivity and economic development of the countries.

In the region, Ecuador, El Salvador, as well as Canada and the United States have so far applied measures of this type.

In Colombia, for example, after the issuance of Decree 575, issued by President Iván Duque on April 14, 2020, the VAT on air tickets will go from 19% to 5% until December 2021. An action that will bring significant benefits for the industry and passengers and will offer more and better connectivity alternatives, enhancing the growth of the economy and increasing the country’s competitiveness.

The bulletins are published continuously as they are received from the same official sources. To obtain original documents you can write to IATA TTBS.
