Senior Italian regulatory figure to lead ICAO Council

Former senior Italian civil aviation authority figure Salvatore Sciacchitano has been elected as the president of the ICAO Council, succeeding Nigeria’s Olumuyiwa Benard Aliu.

Sciacchitano will serve in the role for three years from 1 January, says the United Nations organisation.

He previously headed the Italian airworthiness authority RAI and was the deputy general director of the country’s civil aviation regulator ENAC…
