Vancouver International Airport"™s managing body, Vancouver Airport Authority, has sold 74 Automated Passport Control (APC) kiosks to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
The authority"™s BorderXpress kiosks will expedite the customs entry process for eligible passengers at Hartsfield-Jackson.
Craig Richmond, president and CEO of Vancouver Airport Authority, said, "We"™re proud to partner with the world"™s busiest airport to improve the passenger experience "“ on a grand scale.
"With international travel on the rise, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta will use BorderXpress kiosks to move passengers more quickly to meet their increasing demands."
BorderXpress APC kiosks typically reduce the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) inspection process by 89%, while cutting passenger wait times in half and lowering airport operating costs.
Instead of filling out a declaration card and waiting to take their travel documents to a CBP officer, passengers who are eligible and choose to use APC can proceed directly to a self-service kiosk in the US CBP inspection facility.
Passengers follow the on-screen instructions to scan their US or Canadian passport, answer the customs declaration questions using the touchscreen, receive a receipt confirming their information and then proceed to the CBP officer to finalise processing. The service is available without pre-registration or any fees to the passenger.
Hartsfield-Jackson is the latest airport to expand the implementation of the BorderXpress kiosks, which are currently in use at international airports in Vancouver (YVR), Montreal (YUL), Chicago (ORD and MDW), Seattle-Tacoma (SEA) and New York"™s JFK in Terminals 1 and 4.
