Delta Air Lines, Incheon Airport, airport lounge operators sign agreement to increase transit

Delta Air Lines, Incheon International Airport Corporation and airport lounge operators have signed an agreement to carry more passengers through Incheon Airport and to strengthen the airport’s position as the best hub in Northeast Asia with a more convenient and premium experience.

Delta is the first foreign airline to sign the agreement with Incheon International Airport Corporation and the third-party companies – Pulmuone Food & Culture, SK Networks, Lotte GRS, SPC.

Delta is the largest U.S. airline and, along with our joint venture partner, Korea Air, carries the most transit passengers over Incheon, efficiently connecting over 290 US destinations to 80 Asia markets.

Based on the agreement, the parties will implement the “Transfer Lounge Promotion” for Delta customers starting in April. Selected customers who fly with Delta and transit within 24 hours at Incheon Airport will be able to use free lounge coupons in agreed lounges, including SkyHub Lounge, Matina Lounge, Lounge L and SPC Lounge.

“Delta has established a great partnership with IIAC and Korean Air while growing our home at Incheon Airport Terminal 2 as the No. 1 trans-Pacific hub,” said Matteo Curcio, Delta’s V.P. – Asia Pacific. “The strengthened partnership enables us to offer our customers the best-in-class travel experience as travel demand recovers.”

“I’m pleased to sign this agreement with Delta, who is transporting lots of transit passengers in Incheon Airport,” said Kyung-Wook Kim, CEO of IIAC. “Incheon Airport will do its best to provide a more enjoyable and comfortable experience for passengers as Asia’s first hub airport.”

The Transfer Lounge Promotion will allow Delta to offer select customers access to various airport lounges regardless of ticket class or SkyMiles Medallion Status. Currently, Delta One customers and SkyMiles Diamond, Platinum and Gold Medallion members have access to Korean Air’s lounges. As travel restrictions begin to be eased in Asian countries, this agreement is expected to encourage travel between Asia and the U.S. via Incheon Airport.
