ALTA (Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association) and IATA (International Air Transport Association) met this week to discuss strengthened collaborative efforts between the two associations to address Latin America and Caribbean aviation industry challenges.
ALTA’s newly appointed Executive Director Luis Felipe de Oliveira and IATA’s Director General Alexandre de Juniac met in Geneva at IATA’s headquarters where discussions focused on joint efforts to address the industry challenges, including:
Working together with governments, airports and air traffic providers in order to improve the infrastructure in the region to cope with the regional growth
Common and joint approach on regulatory environment, taxes, charges and fees on airport charges, fuel, and air navigation charges
Continued improvement and implement of safety in the region
Ensuring the efficient and effective implementation of security and facilitation measures in the region in line with global standards
Regionally joining offices to improve synergies and efficiency
«Air transportation is a vital engine driving substantial social and economic development throughout the region,» said ALTA’s newly appointed Executive Director Luis Felipe de Oliveira. «As our industry moves forward in doubling traffic in the Latin America and Caribbean region over the next 10 years, we look forward to a strengthened collaboration with IATA’s regional office in Miami and globally with their headquarters in Geneva as together we address our industry’s challenges.»
